Luke 6:38 - Give, and it will be given to you... The same amount you give will be measured out to you.
Jesus said: “The way you give to others is the way God will give to you.”
It’s as if God sends you to purchase your neighbor’s groceries. “Whatever you get for your neighbor, get also for yourself.” I’m crazy about Gulab Jamuns so I buy my neighbor Gulab Jamuns. But suppose on that morning your neighbor’s trash blows into your doorstep or your neighbour's pet answers nature's call on your verandah. And when you talk with your neighbour about this He seems to be in no rush to address these issues—says he’ll get to it next week.
You’re just about to have a talk when God reminds you, “Time to go to the market and buy your neighbor’s groceries.” You march right past the Gulab Jamun stall and toward the okra stall. You drive back and drop the sack of stale okra in the lap of your lazy, good-for-nothing neighbor. “Have a good dinner.”
The next time you go to your kitchen, guess what you find? What will you be eating? Gulab Jamuns or stale okra? It’s up to you.
Abba Father, Help us with your grace so that we don't love our neighbours on the basis of what we receive from them. But no matter what, help us to treat them fairly so that we can reap harvest from you as well in the same measure. In Jesus' name, Amen
